The Go White Initiative

Hi folks. Today's post is a little different from my usual propaganda. I'd very much like to talk about the subject of going white.

What Is 'Going White'?
Much like the environmental pollution of the industrial revolution has recently caused a mainstream effort to "go green," I think soon that the information pollution of the information revolution will become apparent, causing a mainstream effort to "go white."

Why Is Information Pollution Bad?
The scariest negative effect of such info pollution is something called "decision paralysis." This affects regular dudes like you or me. In the face of an information overload, a person turns off and becomes unreceptive to information. This is concerning because without adequate information, we cannot see what is relevant anymore. As a result, we make poor choices.

Where Does Information Pollution Come From?
Sources of information pollution include blogs, email, cellphone conversations, advertisements, facebook updates, tweets, signs, billboards, labels, and more. The pollution is distracting.

What Can I Do To Help?
My plan is this: reduce my info output. Especially text. I am guilty of producing more text than is necessary to deliver my messages. I vow here and now to only write what is absolutely required. I also intent to look into what more can be done to make Mr. Hexagon more 'informationally friendly' (info friendly). This may take a complete site redesign, but so be it. I honestly feel it worthwhile. I invite everybody on the entire internet to do the same.

Why White?
Well because white is the blank color of a page, silly. But no, in all seriousness, this does mean blogging and tweeting and posting less. It's very important to me that we be as coherent in our decision-making as possible. Do we really need low quality, minute-to-minute update on garbage? And at what cost?

-Mr. Hexagon
