I'm all moved into the new apartment!

After about a year living in closets and living rooms, I finally have a room of my own!

What does this mean? I have more desk space to exploit.  This is good news for expansion.  Additionally, having a door allows me to close off the outside world and focus on work. :)

The Go White Initiative

Hi folks. Today's post is a little different from my usual propaganda. I'd very much like to talk about the subject of going white.

What Is 'Going White'?
Much like the environmental pollution of the industrial revolution has recently caused a mainstream effort to "go green," I think soon that the information pollution of the information revolution will become apparent, causing a mainstream effort to "go white."

Why Is Information Pollution Bad?
The scariest negative effect of such info pollution is something called "decision paralysis." This affects regular dudes like you or me. In the face of an information overload, a person turns off and becomes unreceptive to information. This is concerning because without adequate information, we cannot see what is relevant anymore. As a result, we make poor choices.

Where Does Information Pollution Come From?
Sources of information pollution include blogs, email, cellphone conversations, advertisements, facebook updates, tweets, signs, billboards, labels, and more. The pollution is distracting.

What Can I Do To Help?
My plan is this: reduce my info output. Especially text. I am guilty of producing more text than is necessary to deliver my messages. I vow here and now to only write what is absolutely required. I also intent to look into what more can be done to make Mr. Hexagon more 'informationally friendly' (info friendly). This may take a complete site redesign, but so be it. I honestly feel it worthwhile. I invite everybody on the entire internet to do the same.

Why White?
Well because white is the blank color of a page, silly. But no, in all seriousness, this does mean blogging and tweeting and posting less. It's very important to me that we be as coherent in our decision-making as possible. Do we really need low quality, minute-to-minute update on garbage? And at what cost?

Starfinder

So it's the middle of the night and a boy has to make a run to the store. Out of nowhere, a tractor beam sucks him off the face of the Earth.

The boy finds himself trapped. Perhaps the most renown vendor of space paraphernalia, Zamphax 79, sells the boy his only hope to escape a galactic prison.

With everything from debt and robots, to martial arts experts and spikes against him, will the boy find his long lost father before it's too late!? Will the boy's mom ever get the beer she so lovingly asked for?!!!?! Is it possible to survive on nothing but your own bodily fluids?

These questions and more will be answered in this summer's space epic, Starfinder.

The Magic of 48 hours

Hey there sports fans.

Over the past weekend I participated in the Ludum Dare Event.  (Many will enter. Few will win.) If you are unfamiliar with the contest--which I highly doubt you are--the goal is to create a winning game in just 48 hours.

My entry has grown beyond the boarders of the contest, like an octopus wolf breaking free from a galactic prison.  Expect to hear more about this project (codenamed "Starfinder") in the near future.

Ps, its a lot lonelier than it looks in space.  It would be dangerous to go alone, so take this.

RED HOT ROBOT FUN! Nebraska DELUXE!

YO! Readers!

What's going to be different in Nebraska DELUXE?!? Let me tell you!

-NO wait times! There were complaints about the intro video being too long. Well not anymore! Developments in "press any key to skip" technology now lets players bypass the intro video. You spoke and Mr. Hexagon listened!

-LARGER level to take advantage of! In the earlier version you were stuck inside a rather small, under-developed level. In Nebraska DELUXE, the explorable world has at least DOUBLED.

-SLIGHTLY improved artificial intelligence. These ain't your momma's robots!

-BONUS story content! There was unused dialogue and story in the first edition that is going to be stuffed into every nook and cranny! Did somebody say Richard Nixon?!?

YOU BETTER BE EXCITED BECAUSE I KNOW I AM.

You know what? I'm feeling so confident that Nebraska DELUXE is going to be a winner that I'm going to give you this free, complimentary screen shot.

Yours to keep via right click -> "SAVE AS..."

In other news, my twitter address has slightly transformed from misterhexagon to twitter.com/MrHexagon. Click it and hit me up, son!

Your fellow space-time traveler,
Mr. Hexagon

(PS: The new version is officially going to be called Nebraska DELUXE.)

Results Are FINALLY In

After over a month, Game Builder's 20 Event Competition has finally come to a conclusion. The results being submitted on Monday afternoon play Dungeon Dash in first place. Congrats, Jabs.

But what does that mean for Tag Robot Nebraska? 13th place. Out of 23. A great spot to enter the world of competition. We can only go up from here!

Tag Robot Nebraska will be released soon with minor fixes as suggested by the Judges.

The Jury is Still Out

Judges have been taking their sweet time at Game Builder over the past few weeks. With 23 entries in the 40 Event Competition it's no wonder. The expectation has been growing exponentially--it's through the roof! And only time will tell who the real winners are.

But this delay in announcement interferes a bit with what my plans were. The original plan was to have released Tag Robot Nebraska to the public already. Since I want to wait until we have scores from the contest, I will use this time to add more to the game. This means the version being judged will differ from the version everybody else will play, but I feel that it's for the better.

Tag Robot "Nebraska"

The past couple weeks have been very busy. My my my how my entry for the 20 event competition has grown. What started as a basic back and forth concept has developed into a full fledged chunk of computer history.

The majority of the plot behind the game has been fleshed out and--I don't want to spoil anything, but--scenes from the game are coming soon!

Oh, and by the way, the working title is Tag Robot Nebraska.

Work In Progress

Hi folks,

Official rules here. Only 20 events allowed. Like working in a box. This game is about boxes. Setting is 1977.

The contest is minimal. My entry, too.

The Waiting Game Explained

Hello folks!

You maybe don't realize it, but you are playing a Mr. Hexagon game right this second. Surprised? It's called The Waiting Game, and waiting for its release is part of the experience.

What is The Waiting Game exactly? Most scientists have difficulty coming to a conclusion about this. Rest assured that when the exe is released, it will be an extension of the waiting sensation you feel building right this second.

The Waiting Game is going to be a Relaxing Natural Ambient Meditation Maximizing Experience (RNAMME). As the first RNAMME of its kind, The Waiting Game is going to establish some exciting building blocks for what may become a new human experience altogether.

Let's break down each element of an RNAMME:

R - Relaxing
A major gameplay element of The Waiting Game is the calmness that it will induce upon players. If you take a First Person Shooter (FPS) like 8Bit Killer or a Shoot 'Em Up (SEU) like Gearbolt Rage: Infinite Pain*--both great games in their own respect; games where the focus is to INCREASE the heart rate of the player--it is easy to understand where The Waiting Game isn't coming from.

Various studies have shown that an increased heart rate can lead to a shorter life. This is something most logical people should want to avoid! So, thus, the goal of The Waiting Game will be to DECREASE the heart rate of the player.

N - Natural
A - Ambient

These two go together. To induce a calm player, we must feature a calm atmosphere. The graphics will be soothing and thought provoking, but abstract enough to not distract the player's attention. I will post a screen shot sooner than later to further illustrate this point.

M - Meditation
M - Maximizing

These two also go together. My hope is that The Waiting Game, and RNAMMEs in general, can be used as a meditation enhancement tool. While you most certainly won't need The Waiting Game to meditate, players will enjoy using The Waiting Game to help make meditation better.

E - Experience
And that's what The Waiting Game will be: an experience. I guarantee that The Waiting Game will be unlike anything you will ever play. A different type of computer game for a different type of video game player.

It is important to also note that The Waiting Game will be Earth-safe Space Certified in accordance to The Pleiadian Game Development Guidelines for Earth-safe Space Certification.

If you have any questions or comments about The Waiting Game, I would be more than happy to answer them for you. You can find me on most of the social network sites and I love to hear from friends. But until then, you're going to have to wait!

*I believe Gearbolt Rage: Infinite Pain is by 03 Software but I cannot find anything. If you know could you contact me?

This evening marks a special event for the year. It is the first good full moon of the year! With the event, I would like to make a few announcements.

Firstly, I just want to thank everybody for their continued support. I am nothing without you.

Next I'd like to mention that it is going to be a busy next couple months ahead of us with many new Mr. Hexagon things to look forward to: there is of course the recently mentioned 20 Event Competition, a new project in the works inspired by 1963 retro nostalgia trip Street Rod, I'm doing some art for a project with the Daily Click's very freakin' own S-M-R, and but not least, we've got The Waiting Game to look forwards to.

And as if all of that is not enough, I'm proud to say that you'll be seeing more articles from me! Stay tuned dudes! Enjoy the first full moon of the year!
